Installing WordPress From Inside cPanel

Installing WordPress onto your brand new website is extremely easy. Don’t panic… it really is easy!

A few years ago it was a bit of a chore. It was done mostly by uploading the files via an FTP client into files on your hosting account. You can still do it that way, but why would you?

Luckily, the cPanel that came with your hosting does it all for you with just a few clicks.

So, let’s do this.

Once you’re signed in to your cPanel, look to the left and click ‘Websites’. This will open a drop-down list where you’ll find the Software tab.

Click that and a page appears with loads of icons on it. It’s the WordPress Installer under ESSENTIAL or POPULAR LINKS that you want, so go ahead and click it.

The next page will bring up a form with a drop-down panel. Find your website and click next leaving the directory as it is.

Next, you will have to fill in a few items for your website. Just do the common sense thing and fill in the boxes.

(Don’t forget to click the terms of service button at the bottom.)

After a minute you will see the Installation Complete screen with your installation details.

Copy the installation details down and save them onto notepad and email them to yourself. Put the Notepad file in the Hostgator folder you created earlier. You did create one, didn’t you?

Now you can click on the link to your website. It will take you to a page that says ‘Coming Soon’ You will only see your posts and pages when they have been created and you’ve set your WordPress site to ‘Live’.

To do this,  you will have to log-in to your WordPress website. The login details will be found in your emails, but if you can’t find them it’s very simple to get to that page. Just enter http://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin in the address bar and click enter.

Setting your wordpress to live

Obviously, the ‘yourwebsite.com’ is YOUR website. Bookmark the log-in page.

You can get the link to your admin page from inside of cPanel by going to:
Market Place>My Installs

Now all you have to do is log in and start installing plug-ins, changing a few settings, and then writing amazing posts and creative reviews for your Niche.

As soon as you’re ready….Go Live!

There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing you how to begin setting up WordPress for the best optimization. I will be happy to include my setting in a later post if you like.

This will include the plugins I use, themes I prefer, and setting up the ‘insides’ to make life easier!

I will also show how to set up categories, posts, and pages. What widgets to use and getting your site indexed with the search engines.

I may as well use the example website to go through these methods.

So, there you have it. A few posts read, a bit of clickery, and you’re all set up to set the world alight with your website!
